about
This is a little song I wrote when I was 16 and upset that a friend of mine I had liked for a long time didn't like me back. So I was giving myself some tough love and telling myself, "You Don't Always Get Your Way," but at the same time consoling myself by thinking that he secretly liked me or that I would make him like me one day. What a little brat I was!
lyrics
Your face
Is imprinted in my mind
My heart begins to race
And suddenly I find
That you're no man
Yeah you're just a little boy
So take my hand
And put away your toys
Take a breath
And tell me the truth
And it's ok
Because you know you want to
It scares me to death
To know you're such a fool
But I'm ok
Because I realized something today
You Don't Always Get Your Way
No no no
You Don't Always Get Your Way
No no no
Roll the dice
Because I'm playing this game again
You go twice
And that way you can win
I've played it all before
I even know the next part
'Cause you've been keeping score
And now you'll take my heart
Take a breath
And tell me the truth
And it's ok
Because you know you want to
It scares me to death
To know you're such a fool
But I'm ok
Because I realized something today
You Don't Always Get Your Way
No no no
You Don't Always Get Your Way
No no no
So get out your playing cards
Because I know someday I'll win
I'll make you fall so hard
That your head will start to spin
And if you challenge me to chess
I know that I will be the best
Take a breath
And tell me the truth
And it's ok
Because you know you want to
It scares me to death
To know you're such a fool
But I'm ok
Because I realized something today
You Don't Always Get Your Way
No no no
You Don't Always Get Your Way
No no no
